HandsOn Greater Phoenix - Las Fuentes Health Clinic

Las Fuentes Clinic is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation, with the goal of providing medical care to the uninsured people of Guadalupe, Arizona. Over 4,500 visits are made yearly to the clinic. Medical care consists of family medicine, women's health, acupuncture, chiropratic, naturopathic and traditional medicine. An extensive community outreach program provides health education to local community schools, agencies and events. In addition, Las Fuentes serves as a clinical training site for medical residents, medical students, nursing students and medical assistants.

While working at DAVIS, Rick Markum designed and lead a team to recreate what had been an unofficial and unimproved community gathering space at the Las Fuentes Health Clinic. Using mostly existing landscape materials (ocotillo plants, landscaping rocks and tree trunk sections) combined with some store bought materials, the group created a small amphitheater, which has been used as an amphitheater, an impromptu outdoor waiting room and has reportedly even been used for at least one small wedding.
